The final product was made by means of a self-made rotation machine.
The creation of this machine came from the fascination of rotating biscuit moulds. In a research into production processes outside design, I came across the food industry. Here I found the process of making biscuits using a rotary mould machine. Because of my fascination for the machine I decided to make a small and simpler version myself out of wood. The idea was to work with a soft material and use it to make a product. The machine consists of laser-cut pieces of wood that can be pushed together. There are two or four upright holders into which a cylinder mould can be inserted by means of a fixed turning system. Screw thread is put through the cylinder moulds and the mould is tightened with nuts. There is a cylinder mould with a solid cylinder underneath. the moulds are made on the wood turning bar machine. the moulds can be joined together in different
combinations. The final product is made of clay. The clay is pressed through the machine by turning the outer handle. As soon as the clay leaves the machine, it can be shaped a little in direction. After this, the product is trimmed where necessary and left to dry. After drying it is sanded and finished with a layer of epoxy with pigment. After the curing process, the product is finished. for now, the machine works on manual drive.

I wanted to find out if I could manage to process materials using my own machine. During the process, I wondered how I could make my own moulds for the machine.I have tried to make moulds in various ways. I started to focus on prints and visualising them in fusion and then printing them out with a 3d printer. This took a lot of time and I looked for another quicker solution, but left the idea in my head for later in the project. I started making moulds using the lathe machine to get faster results from the machine. One of my first ideas for my end product was to make a mirror frame. After the first samples that were created, I started to think about a different focus. My focus at the beginning was mainly on decoration printmaking, after this I started to think about making a print as a function. So I started making moulds on the lathe machine. by focusing on the print, I started thinking about the end product in a new way. this is how I came up with the idea of making a fruit bowl with grooves in it that keep the fruit in place.
